Nursing Ausbildung - Pathway Guide
The full CGP pathway explained end to end: what Ausbildung is, what it requires, and what Ceylon German Pathway does at each stage.
01What is Nursing Ausbildung?
Ausbildung is Germany's dual vocational training system. For nursing, it combines structured classroom study with paid, hands-on training inside a real healthcare institution - a hospital, clinic or care facility. It leads to a state-recognised German nursing qualification: Pflegefachfrau or Pflegefachmann.
Key points to understand before anything else:
- It is vocational training, not a university degree - but it is a regulated, respected professional qualification in Germany.
- Trainees receive a monthly training allowance from their employer while they study and work. You do not pay university tuition fees for this pathway.
- Training happens in German. Reaching the language level required by employers and authorities is a genuine requirement of the process, not an optional extra.
02Why Germany
German hospitals, clinics and care institutions are actively seeking committed international nursing trainees. For a motivated student this means:
- A recognised qualification within a regulated European healthcare system.
- Real demand for nurses, which is why institutions build long-term partnerships with organisations like CGP.
- Paid training from day one - you build your career while earning a training allowance.
- A long-term future: a completed Ausbildung opens routes to continued employment, specialisation and further study within German healthcare.
03Who this pathway is for
The pathway is best suited to motivated young students - typically around 18 to 25 years old - who genuinely want to build a professional healthcare career in Germany, and who are prepared to commit to German language training.
An honest note: this is not a shortcut. Nursing Ausbildung is real vocational training in a second language, inside a demanding profession. Students who do well treat the language course as the foundation of everything else. CGP will tell you honestly if this is not the right route for you.

06Fees
The CGP fee structure has three components, set out in writing before you commit:
| Fee | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Registration | Enrolment as a CGP student, assessment and counselling. |
| German language course | Structured German training towards the required level. |
| CGP service fee | Applications, documents, interview coordination, visa guidance, pre-departure and arrival support. |
Exact amounts and the payment schedule are confirmed in writing before any commitment. There are no hidden charges at any stage. (Amounts are published on the CGP website as they are finalised.)
07Realistic timelines
How long the process takes depends mainly on two things:
- How quickly you progress through German language training.
- The timelines of the German institution you are matched with.
CGP gives you a realistic timeline during counselling and updates it honestly as you progress. CGP would rather tell you it will take longer than promise a date it cannot control.
